Less than an hour away from where we were spending our mini holiday in Belgium, is the city of Leuven. Home of Stella Artois. We didn’t drink any Stella but we did have some amazing waffles (both Brussels and Liege) instead. That alone was worth the trip! 🙂

Postel Abbey
Just like last year we decided to start the year by spending a couple of days in Belgium, just across the border. By coincedence we passed the Postel Abbey on our way to the holiday house. People familiar with the Efteling will recognize this from the story behind Villa Volta. So we decided to come back the next day and have a look. We didn’t find any trace of Hugo but we did have a wonderful afternoon exploring the abbey and its surroundings.

27th of April! King’s day in The Netherlands. But this year we skipped the orange madness and went somewhere else. We decided to go to Mechelen. Only 1,5 hours drive away from us. Just across the Belgian border. So here’s yet another post about Belgium! 🙂
Continue readingBack in Belgium
For the first week of January we booked a nice little house in Eksel, Belgium. The park itself was still under construction but that wasn’t really a problem. The house was nice, comfortable and clean. During our stay we had a walk in the forest and made some small stops in different places nearby. Of course we couldn’t just go back home without having a waffle as well! 2022 is off to a good start! 🙂

Here’s another post about Belgium. One day difference between visiting Ghent and Brussels. One month difference between blogging about them. 🙂 But here it is!
After having spent the day in Ghent and the night in Vilvoorde, we headed for Brussels the next day. Brussels is the capital and largest city of Belgium and has been a major center for international politics. What’s also interesting is that the city is bilingual. Both Dutch and French are used there.
Ghent, Belgium
And before we knew it we were back in Belgium. 🙂 The last weekend of May we headed south towards Ghent. After a short drive (just over two hours) we reached our destination. We were all curious to have a peek at the city. Iván included.
Antwerp: Churches and Other Stuff
You can hardly call it abroad but that’s what Belgium is. 🙂 Less than two hours driving and you’re there. At least from where we live. Because it’s so close we thought it would be a nice idea to go there and let Éva have a taste of Belgium and see what Antwerp is like.
Taking the X100S for the trip and an attempt to document the city. Having it set to aperture priority with a minimum shutter speed of 1/125th I let the camera do it’s work. Using the exposure compensation dial where needed.
